Violinist Mihaela Oprea was born in Brașov, Romania, and started studying music at 6 years old as a pupil of Mrs. Stela Mărgineanu and Maestro I. Ionescu Galați, the conductor and director of the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra. She was immediately deeply fascinated by the violin and began to win a whole series of prizes locally and nationally, and at 11 years old, she made her solo debut with the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra.
Oprea continued her studies with Mr. Mihai Wunderlich at The Secondary Music School from Cluj and later at Buchrest Music University. She took violin classes from Mrs. Adriana Carpen and Mrs. Ioana Croitoru and private lessons with Maestro Ștefan Gheorghiu. She performed as soloist with several orchestras in Romania, as well as radio broadcasts, and also started a career as chamber musician and soloist abroad. In 1998, Oprea won a position in The South Denmark Philharmonic Orchestra, where she is now the Principal of the 2nd violin group.
