Carl Nielsen & George Enescu Sonatas, http://www.danacord.dk DACOCD879 released 2021:

”Mihaela Oprea and Jakob Alsgaard Bahr both appear to be newcomers to Fanfare. Oprea is Romanian-born and almost entirely Romanian-trained, though she completed her studies with Danish violinist Kim Sjøgren at the Royal Danish Conservatory in Aarhus. It comes as no surprise that Enescu’s Sonata is in Oprea’s genes and blood, and you can hear it in her every turn of phrase and the way she teases the tone of her instrument to maximum seductive effect. Bahr was a piano student at the same conservatory in Aarhus, but it was at the Sønderborg Music Academy, where he was accompanying one of Oprea’s students, that Mihaela and Jakob first met. A musical friendship was born, and in 2018 they made their first recording together, a CD of Danish and Romanian pieces (Danacord 831). The Nielsen/Enescu album is their second recording as a duo, and it’s a must-have for all who love violin and piano music and who appreciate the music of these two composers.

”Danish & Romanian pieces, http://www.danacord.dk DACOCD831.

The Romanian violinist Mihaela Oprea has delved deeply into repertoire to discover this stunning selection of violin music…I enjoyed this selection of highly-entertaining music for violin and piano…The playing is always outstanding. Mihaela Oprea and Danish born Jakob Alsgaard Bahr make a superb team…” John France, MusicWeb International

”Mihaela Oprea has a flawless technique, high level of musicianship and natural authority in her current position as leader… As a soloist in Mozart 4th violin concerto in D-Major K. 218 she played absolutely wonderful, at the same level as the Danish or international soloists the orchestra engages. The newspaper critics all agreed on this.” Henrik Wenzel Andreasen, General Manager of SSO until 2007.

‘’I have had the pleasure of working with Mihaela Oprea for the past two years…She is a talented young violinist with an extremely good attitude…’’ The Chief Conductor of SSO until 2003, Mrs. Iona Brown.
